I’m looking for a new edible plant to grow in a shaded area of my yard. This area gets very little direct sun, it’s probably 90% shaded throughout the day. I especially love rare or odd stuff. I’m in zone 9a. Does anyone have a recommendation?
Shiso can tolerate shade pretty well in warmer climates. I’m not sure about 90% shade but it might be worth a shot. Very interesting but useful taste and very pretty. There’s green, purple, and combination varieties, although the combination varieties are mostly ornamental. They’re very low maintenance once they get going and they reseed themselves easily.
Oh wow, they are beautiful looking plants! Definitely going to do some research into these. Thanks!
