Tree Trunk Slime Flux

I went camping yesterday and while I was in the woods I noticed this foaming stream of liquid coming from a wound in a tree. The liquid was attracting tons of black carpenter ants and common flies. I had no idea what it was so I looked it up online. What I found is that its something called slime flux, a bacterial infection in the tree with bubbles that are caused by fermentation. This guy on YouTube has a really good video on the subject.
